Aftercare

Following your treatment you will be provided with aftercare, it is also available below if you have misplaced your paper copy or prefer it on the go...

semi permanent makeup

It is vital that you follow the aftercare advice precisely to achieve the best results possible from your treatment – If you do not follow this aftercare the treatment may not heal as desired.

During the first 4 weeks after receiving the treatment an important healing process occurs. In simple terms the skin treats the pigment as it would a wound (as the skin has been broken) just as it would if you had cut yourself, for example new layers of skin will form over the pigment in order to heal the broken skin underneath, this may result in scabbing. The pigment will rise to the surface and appear a little darker at first whilst this process is happening. Although most of the colour will have been absorbed by the skin, lying underneath the newly formed layers of skin, once the top layer has flaked off this can make the pigment feel extremely faded. Do not panic, this is totally normal. During the remaining weeks, up until the 4 week point, the colour will begin to resurface as each layer of skin heals in turn. You will not get the full effect of the first treatment until the whole healing process has finished. Once the scabs have come off naturally it is normal to have a few gaps or areas of no pigment where they may pull the pigment out. They may seem uneven. If you are self-conscious of this you can cover with pencil or makeup until your perfecting top up appointment so long as it has been at least 7 days and the treatment area has healed.

A free top up is included to even out areas affected.

Everyone heals differently and in rare cases some people experience very little pigment retention.

For 2 to 5 days after treatment, the procedure area can experience the following symptoms:

Swelling, Tenderness, Redness, Flaking, Dryness or Itching

Do's and Dont's

No running water is to directly touch the area whilst healing

No submerging the area for 14 days after your treatment, please try your very best to keep the area dry apart from when cleaning. If you do get them wet gently pat them dry with a tissue or clean towel.

No rubbing!

DO NOT use make-up for 7 days or until healed on or around the treatment areas.

DO NOT expose the treated area to extreme heat or cold until the area is completely healed. This includes; saunas, sunbathing, tanning beds, as well as outdoor activities in hot or minus temperatures.

DO NOT scratch, pick, itch or rub the area of the treatment, as this could cause uneven healing, infection, scarring and the pigment to be removed leaving uneven colour.

NO sweating for 14 days after your treatment – Sweat produces high amounts of salt which is used in the removal of pigment from the skin, therefore no gym, saunas or steam rooms for at least 14 days.

NO facials or products to touch the treatment area for at least 14 days, it is then recommended that you don’t have any form of facial touch your brow area including chemical treatments or microdermabrasion. Exfoliation of the area will also make the treatment area fade at a much faster rate.

14 days following treatment or until healed;

After the procedure, gently clean the area with clean cotton pad/buds and sterile water to remove excess plasma fluid, do this a few times a day for the first couple of days until any oozing has stopped, removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluid (There may be some colour transfer from the area onto the tissue). Gently apply a small amount of ointment after cleaning to keep the area moisturised.

After 2 days continue to keep the area clean, oozing has normally stopped, apply the ointment in the morning and evening to keep the area moisturised.

Use a gentle face cleanser and avoid the treatment area, no products containing acids or exfoliants.

Apply a small pea size amount of the ointment provided in the morning and at night using a clean cotton bud, do not over saturate as this may delay the healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin and never apply to a wet or damp area. It is important to clean the area with a cotton swab lightly dipped in cooled boiled water but do not over-wet, use a light sweeping motion and a separate clean bud for each brow/lip/eye and application. Wash your hands before and after application.

The ointment will protect the treatment area from free radicals and infections entering the area and may soothe the skin if it feels tight.

Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away, picking can cause scarring or loss of colour.

Eyeliner/ lashliner aftercare

Do not get the area wet.

No mascara or eye makeup to be worn for 14 days or until healed if sooner .

No lash extensions or tinting products to be used until healed.

No lash serums until healed .

There is no requirement to put balm on eye liner, keep the eye area clean the same as lips and brows and then pat dry.

No lash extensions to be worn for the top up.

Lash liner and eyeliner may experience a small amount of swelling bruising, this usually subsides within 2 - 3 days.

As the area heals you may experience a small amount of scabbing/flaking, do not pick these off, allow them to come off naturally. There may be lashes attached to some scabs but do not panic, we naturally shed 2-5 eyelashes a day and these would have been lashes which have shed but held in place by the scabs.

lip blush aftercare

Follow the general aftercare advice in this leaflet, in addition please drink through a straw to prevent Lips getting wet.

When eating please try to avoid getting food on your lips, use a fork to place good inside your mouth rather than food you have to bite down on such as pizza/burger etc.

Lips will start to scab and lift nearest to the water line first, leave these to come off naturally.

Lips will be up to 70 percent darker than the healed result, they may have a chapped feeling after the treatment whilst healing.

Keep lips moisturised with balm but not wet.

Common problems which can be avoided

Over cleaning, vigorous cleaning or using cleanser that is too strong can produce symptoms similar to an infection. The skin may be very tender or shiny and there may be a clear discharge.

Stress, poor diet, smoking or illness can cause longer healing times.

Please remember that everyone’s skin is different therefore everyone will experience different healed results. For example oily skin does not hold the hair-strokes as clearly as other skin types mainly, due to the pigment dispersing more which is a result of the oil. Everyone gets the same treatment, Needle brand, Pigment brand, appointment length, the healed results are due to aftercare and skin types.

PLEASE REMEMBER that the colour is up to 50% darker immediately after treatment. It will fade after 4-7 days and the true colour will not come through until up to 4 weeks after the initial treatment and the final result will be visible once the healing has finished following the top up.

During the healing process, the colour for certain procedures appears to have disappeared, this is due to the healing process. Under no circumstances should you undergo any further permanent cosmetic work during this 4 week period. The colour will re-appear as the healing process progresses.

To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, please avoid excessive exposure to UV rays and the sun and please use a total sunblock or moisturiser with a high SPF this will help your brows last longer.

If you do not, the treatment area will fade at a much faster rate and more regular touch ups will be required.

In order to keep your permanent cosmetic procedure in perfect condition, it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure from time to time, depending on the area.

A free top-up treatment should be booked on the day of your first appointment this is for any gaps which may need filling once healed. This is up to 3 hours in duration depending how much pigment has been retained.

Please note that if your free of charge maintenance appointment is not taken within 4 to 9 weeks of your initial procedure this will then become a chargeable appointment.

⬣ Brush lashes once a day to maintain shape, do not over brush as this will weaken the bond and cause lashes to fall off.

⬣ Avoid extreme heat such as saunas and hot steam from ovens, the lashes are made of synthetic hair and heat will change the curl and in extreme cases could melt (lighters too close)

Tattoo aftercare

At La Pelle, we believe that the aftercare of your tattoo is just as important as the tattoo itself. It's essential to follow proper aftercare instructions to ensure that your tattoo heals correctly and maintains its quality over time. Here are some tips to help you care for your new tattoo and keep it looking its best.

After getting your tattoo at La Pelle, it's important to keep the area clean and moisturized. Leave your protective second skin barrier film on for at least 4 hours. It is normal for there to be a build up on lymph/plasma fluid under the dressing. After this i recommend using a gentle, fragrance-free soap, pat dry and applying a thin layer of our recommended aftercare cream to the tattooed area. Reapply as necessary, a few times a day to keep the area moisturised. It's essential to avoid direct sunlight or soaking in water for at least two weeks after getting your tattoo. Avoid getting your tattoo wet if possible other than for cleaning until any scabbing has naturally fallen off. Do not pick them off as this will cause colour loss and possible scarring.

Avoid large bodies of water such as swimming pools, saunas and open water until it is healed.

Following these aftercare tips will ensure that your tattoo heals properly and maintains its vibrancy over time.
